During the month of November people have been donating gifts toward a Thank Offering. At the time of this writing Living Word has been blessed with 17 gifts totaling $12,500. The gifts received will be set aside with the goal of maintaining staff salaries and benefits, which are in jeopardy of being reduced.
The offerings over the past weeks have been a real blessing. If you follow the weekly information shared in worship, you will note that the average offering has crept up from about $7,000 per week to $9,000 per week. This has been a real blessing, that I can attribute to nothing less than God’s miraculous power at work in our family of faith. For more information see the video: Witnessing a Miracle at Living Word.
Encouraged for Tomorrow gifts have been on the rise. With about 6 months before this ministry is scheduled to conclude, there is an effort on the part of many families at Living Word to honor the commitment they made. Recently we sent an update to each family who made a commitment to Encouraged for Tomorrow. If you have any questions about your commitment, please contact the church office at 248-651-5316 or livingword@livword.net. The purpose of this ministry was to both replace the roof of our facility and address the mortgage. You can follow the progress of Encouraged for Tomorrow in the weekly worship handout.
A Faith Promise is being encouraged from every family at Living Word; those who are members as well as those who worship with us regularly. This Faith Promise is a way for us to make a commitment to our Lord for the coming year in regards to our stewardship and management of life resources. The amount of such a faith promise is far less important than the trust in God’s promises that it indicates for each of us. The Faith Promise card is available in the weekly worship bulletin or online at www.livword.net.
As a personal note, it has been a struggle over the last several years to truly enjoy all aspects of my pastoral ministry at Living Word. I love what I do; and I enjoy the ministry I share with you at Living Word. But, there has been this shadow of financial difficulty that has hung over our church and school for a long time. Truly our leaders have exhausted every possible means of managing limited resources and honoring commitments to staff and vendors. It wasn’t that many months back that we had reached a point of not knowing where to turn or what to do.
At that point we offered a humble prayer to our Lord. And it seems that when we have exhausted all human resources that the divine resources stand out! Truly the words of the Psalmist ring loud and clear, “Call on me in the day of trouble and I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
I give glory to God for the miracle at work at Living Word. And I give credit to each of you at Living Word for your stewardship response that is making possible many things that I had thought impossible.
My personal prayer: “Lord God, I would ask that You provide continued stewardship blessings at Living Word so that with Your continued blessing we may maintain the quality ministry we do as a church with a school.”
